EMGS Visa

Malaysia student visa — clearly explained

EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services) is Malaysia's centralised student visa system. Here's exactly how it works in 2026.

The EMGS visa process

1
Get your university offer

You'll need a conditional or unconditional offer letter to begin EMGS.

2
Register on EMGS portal

Your university registers your application centrally on the EMGS system — you don't do this directly.

3
Submit documents

Passport, photos, transcripts, health declaration and offer letter, all in EMGS format.

4
Pay EMGS fees

RM 1,060–2,500 depending on nationality and pass type, paid via your university.

5
VAL issued

Visa Approval Letter typically issued in 4–6 weeks. We pre-check files for 98% first-time approval.

6
Single Entry Visa

With the VAL, apply for SEV at your nearest Malaysian High Commission (1–5 working days).

7
Travel & post-arrival

On arrival, your university handles post-arrival medical, biometrics and student pass sticker.

Visa FAQs

Typically 4–6 weeks from submission to VAL issuance. With pre-checked documentation, most of our students receive their VAL within 30 days.
